Antique GRANITE WARE CUP enameled with a blue and white speckled design with black enamel rim and handle. The cup measures just under 2 ½” tall and is 4" wide and holds about 2 cups of liquid.  The handle has been attached with rivets.

The piece is in great condition for vintage granite ware with only a few chips of missing enamel on the bottom edge. There is also rust inside but most of it may be able to be removed. On the bottom, the owner has scratched their initials--either HW or MH.  Please review the photos carefully as they have been taken from several angles.

The piece would be a great addition to someone's French country or farmhouse style decorating filled with a votive candle or holding a bouquet of small flowers.

Enamel & Granite Ware
Enamel ware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain, which became popular in the 1800s. By the late 1870s, a new form of enamel ware was developed, called "granite ware."

Granite ware was designed with decorative patterns resembling granite, ranging from mottled, speckled, spatters or swirls. Early granite ware included patterns in turquoise blue with white and green. Both enamel and granite ware were used in the production of early kitchen utility ware.
