Art Deco ROYAL DOULTON DINNER PLATE Circa 1920 Pattern D4085
Beautiful china plate by ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND from the 1920s in a difficult to find pattern.
The edge of the plate is decorated with fruit--strawberries, cherries and peaches (or apples) and the outside rim trimmed in a deep green. An orange circle is painted in the middle of the plate. The shape is a dodecagon--12 sided.
The backstamp dates to 1901 to 1922, when the company introduced a new Doulton mark with the lion, crown and intersecting "D" motif. The new mark celebrated the Royal Warrant given to Doulton by King Edward VII in 1901. In addition to the Doulton mark, the plate is marked with its pattern number D4085, which was made from 1919 to 1920.
The plate measures 10" in diameter and 1 ¼" high and is in great condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. Two plates are available for sell. One has very light crazing.
