Stunning hand-painted GAME BIRD CHARGER PLATE by George Borgfeldt Coronet Limoges.

The plate was part of the company's cornerstone MAGNIFICENT GAME BIRD PORTRAIT PLATES series and is hand-signed by L. Coudert, one of the most revered Limoges artists of the late 19th and early 20th century.  Coudert's signature is one of the most most valuable Limoges signatures.

The back of the plate is stamped with the coronet mark of George Borgfeldt, a prominent New York importer of porcelains with decorating studios in Germany and Paris.  The Paris studio decorated mostly Limoges porcelains and its sought after work thrust the company into the limelight around 1905.

The plate measures 10" in diameter and  1 ½” high. The rim is scalloped and edged in gold.  The back of the plate is drilled for hanging.

The colors are absolutely gorgeous--a variety peach, yellows, greens and browns and use the Borgfeldt technique called mixtion, a mixture of a color printed transfer pattern with additional hand painted details.  The technique was considered one of the highest standards for decorating porcelain.

There are no cracks, chips or repairs and is in near mint condition other than some minor wear to the gold gilt on the rim.
