A wonderful piece of early American antique stoneware. What is most charming and unique about this STONEWARE CROCK is that before applying the glaze, the potter personally marked the piece with his indented thumbprint.

The stoneware crock stands about 8 ½” tall and is 5” wide at the base.  The rim of the crock is about 4” wide with a 2 ½” opening at the mouth.  There is no lid. The exterior color ranges from taupe grays to reddish browns.

As with many antique crocks, the rim does have a few chips, but they do not take away from the beauty of the piece.

What a great addition to someone's country French or farmhouse decorating filled with flowers or wooden utensils!
