Offering a large CINCINNATI OHIO THE QUEEN CITY OF THE WEST SOUVENIR PLATE. The plate features Cincinnati landmarks, including the Taft Museum, Union Terminal, Music Hall, Cincinnati Art Museum, Tyler Davidson Fountain, St Peter's Church, University of Cincinnati, City Hall and the Cincinnati skyline.
The blue and white 10 ½” round plate was sold by the H & S Pogue Company. For over a hundred years, Pogue's was a well-loved department store chain in Cincinnati. Prior to the company's closing in the 1980s, one of the greatest compliments one could make in the Queen City regarding a piece of merchandise was to use the store's own slogan, "It Came from Pogue's."
A blue stamp on the back of the plate reads:

DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR H & S POGUE CO
BY VERNON KILNS USA.
The manufacturer, Vernon Kilns closed its doors in the late 1950s. Condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or crazing.
