About Otto Eisenlohr and Brothers

The firm was founded in 1850 by the father of Otto Eisenlohr.  Otto took over the family tobacco business in 1885 and made the decision to concentrate on a single brand. Within a few years Otto had grown the business to a size he could not handle alone and brought in his brothers, Louis, Charles and August, a tobacco leaf expert, to help.  The firm grew and had manufacturing operations in 22 factories, 16 stripping plants and 14 warehouses scattered throughout Pennsylvania by 1920.  Although they produced and sold over 210 million cigars annually, the Cinco cigar was not sold in the two greatest retail markets in America--New York and Chicago, as well as San Francisco, New England, most of the Northwest in New Orleans.  The company did expand into a second brand, the Henrietta.
