This retired Christmas DUNOON SCOTLAND BONE CHINA MUG features a rosy cheeked Santa Claus ringing a brass bell on the steps of a storefront. The shop windows are decorated for the holidays with wrapped presents, stockings, a Christmas tree, and everything needed for the feast--plump turkey, wine, sweets and even "Christmas crackers."
On the threshold of the door above Santa is the word: Christmas with a red breasted robin atop the window ledge.
The detail in the illustration by artist Sue Scullard is amazing. The illustration is 360 degrees completely covering all sides. This is one of Dunoon's designs from the early 1990s. Sculllard is a illustrator and wood engraver who designed multiple pieces for Dunoon.
Made in Scotland, the mug is 4.25" tall and in Dunoon Devon shape. The capacity is about 8 ounces. The mug is in great vintage condition and would be a fantastic addition to your favorite cat lover's holiday china.
