Featuring a beautiful engraved VICTORIAN COFFEE POT, circa 1860 to 1920.

The coffee pot has a tapering ovoid pot with a domed-hinged lid topped with a finial knob. The spout is long and elegant.  The handle is shaped like a "C" with decorative insulators in two places and a thumb spur. The entire pot is engraved throughout with delicate scroll and filigree patterns.

It measures approximately 9" tall from the bottom to the top of the finial.  From spout to handle edge, the coffee pot measures 9" across.  The coffee pot is not marked by its maker or monogrammed, but it does have an electroplated finish that polishes like silver. Most likely, its electroplated nickel silver.

This style of coffee pot was used to infuse ground coffee using a small muslin bag as a filter. In the late 1860s, manufacturers were advertising similar electroplated coffee pots as electroplated items had become acceptable substitutes for sterling silver. Apart from the teapot, the coffee pot was the most expensive beverage item for serving hot drinks so a less expensive option was well received.

The coffee pot is in very good vintage condition. There a scruff mark near the bottom but other than that its nearly perfect. Please review the photos carefully.

Vintage silver looks beautiful and just imagine this piece displayed in your dining room or kitchen on a pretty tray--with a spoon jar filled with mixed patterns of spoons.
