From Campbell's Soup and Minute Rice, THE COOK IS IN THE PARLOUR COOKBOOK is a recipe pamphlet produced in 1970. The title is based on the cookbook, "The Cook is in the Parlor Cookbook" by Marguerite G. McCarthy released in 1947.  This hard-to-find recipe pamphlet is another great example of mid-century American retail advertising when store, food products, and new appliance promotions included branded cookbooks, recipe pamphlets and booklets as give-aways.

The pamphlet's introduction states "this booklet is dedicated to the proposition that your place is in the parlor, with family and friends, rather than hidden in the kitchen."  The collection is made with Minute Rice and Campbell's Soups.

It's a small pamphlet with only 8 pages, but has some quick recipes like Tuna Skillet, Souper Frank Supper, Savory Meatballs, Skillet Stroganoff, and Chicken Continental.

The colorful illustrations are very 1970s kitschy--using bright lime green, pinks, and blues. The cover would be fun framed and used to decorate a mid-century or vintage kitchen. The pamphlet measures just under 5" by 7 ½” and is in very good condition with no tears.
