Real photo postcard, "Ruine Hardenburg bei Bad Dürkheim depicting the castle and fortress ruins of Hardenburg near Bad Dürkheim, Germany.

The Counts of Leiningen expanded the medieval hilltop castle into a palace during the 16th century that was as magnificent as it was well-fortified. The impressive remains of the extensive residential wings, the imposing hall buildings, the mighty western bulwark and the Renaissance garden still give an idea of the former splendor and size.

The initials E.H.M are printed in the divided back line so the postcard may have been published by Emil Hartmann of Mannheim. The postage box imprinted with 123385 M/1320.

Black and white photograph with handwritten white ink caption.
