Antique GRANITE WARE GOOSENECK TEAPOT with Bright Blue and White Swirl Black Trim Circa 1880 - 1920
Featuring an early GRANITE WARE GOOSENECK TEAPOT, circa 1880 - 1920. The TEAPOT is decorated in the gorgeous "Blue and White Swirl" pattern trimmed in black enamel on the handle and lid finial.
Measuring 8 ½” tall with the lid, the piece is in wonderful vintage condition for antique granite ware with very minimal rust or chips. The inside bottom does have some sediment or rust; however this piece must have been well loved as it appears gently cared for. The outside of the bottom of the pot is also very black from use. Please review the photos carefully as they have been taken from several angles.
In the "Granite Iron Ware Cook Book" published by the St. Louis Stamping Company in the late 1800s, the beverage pot with the gooseneck was referred to as a teapot. However, you often see the piece shown as a coffee pot. See the last photo.
Imagine this wonderful piece as an addition to someone's French country or farmhouse style decorating!

Enamel & Granite Ware
Enamel ware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain, which became popular in the 1800s. By the late 1870s, a new form of enamel ware was developed, called "granite ware."
Granite ware was designed with decorative patterns resembling granite, ranging from mottled, speckled, spatters or swirls. Early granite ware was turquoise blue with white or green.
Both enamel and granite ware were used in the production of early kitchen utility ware.
