Listing is for a vintage mid-century modern MARMALADE SET by Fred Roberts Company of San Francisco.

This Fred Roberts set is one of the Made in Japan imports brought to the United States post World War II. Following the end of World War II and the surrender of Japan, companies like Fred Roberts began importing from Japan dishware, china and other items to the United States.  This import/export business helped helped Japan rapidly bounce back its economy to become the world's second largest economy behind the United States, by the 1960s.

The white ceramic set, decorated with STRAWBERRIES, LEAVES AND VINES is in great vintage condition. There are no chips and no cracks on the set; however some of painted strawberries on the base plate seem to be lighter than other areas. The Fred Roberts Company San Francisco MADE IN JAPAN label is still attached to the bottom of the base plate.

The matching set consists of three triangular jam/marmalade dishes complete with three tiny ceramic spoons. The triangular dishes with their ceramic strawberry topped lid, sit on top of a decorated saucer dish.

     • Triangular Dishes, approximately 2 ⅝” x 2 ⅝” x 4 ⅝”
     • Base Plate, approximately 7 ½” wide
     • Lid, approximately 5 ½” wide topped with 1 ¼” x ¾” strawberry

This cheerful set would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys mid-century modern china or décor.  The matching cruet set is also available.
