Vintage spiral-bound cookbook by Justin WIlson, southern American chef and humorist known for his brand of Cajun cuisine-inspired cooking and humor and storytelling. The Justin Wilson Cook Book is written in much the same manner as Justin Wilson talked--informal and fun.

Justin Wilson began inspiring and entertaining as a TV chef in the early 1960s.  He was known for to use the best catchphrase, like, "I Garontee!" and "How Y'all Are."

The 90-page cookbook was published released in 1965 by Pelican Publishing Company.  This copy is from the eighth printing in 1985.  It measures 9" x 7".  It is filled with recipes like:

  • How to Make A Roux
  • Chicken Jambalaya
  • Chicken-Andouille Gumbo
  • Shrimp & Oyster Gumbo
  • Shrimp Creole
  • Field Peas
  • Hush Puppies and many more.

Additionally, the cookbook is filled with photographs of Wilson, cooking and entertaining with family and friends.  It includes great forward and biography--who knew he started out as a safety engineer training oil refinery workers!  Wilson shares he was putting his students to sleep with the dry curriculum so began adding Cajun humor to keep them awake.

This item is in pre-owned vintage condition and has the wear expected of a spiral-bound cookbook of this age, including discoloration and curling.  Would be a great addition to someone's cookbook collection--or for someone who loves to cook Cajun foods!

    Enjoy your shopping and cooking!
